What to include in your message

The more specific you are, the faster we can act. Tell us the page URL, what the page says, and what you believe is wrong. If you are pointing at a standard or an agency document, include the link so we can check it against our own sources.

For a page request, describe the symptom in your own words — what you see, hear or smell, where in the house it happens, and whether it changes with weather or the season. Requests that describe a real, repeatable complaint are the ones most likely to become a page.

What we can and can't help with

We can't diagnose your specific home remotely. Nothing here replaces a licensed inspector, electrician or plumber.

We also don't quote repairs, recommend a specific contractor, or handle disputes with one. Our cost ranges are national brackets for judging a quote, not prices we can honor.

Emergencies

If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, leave the building first. Then call emergency services from outside.

Do the same for sewage backing up into living space, water near an electrical panel, or a wall, floor or ceiling that has started to move. Email is not monitored around the clock, so never wait on a reply from us in a situation like that.
